ORGANIZED 1912

On Feb.18,1912 a congreation gathered at the Perria Hollow School House four miles northwest of New Market for the purpose of instituting a new church. Jeff Nance gave the land for the church building and his name is memorialized in the name, Nance''s Grove Baptist Church. The first building was dedicated Aug.18, 1918. The church joined the Nolachucky Baptist Association in 1918 and the Jefferson County Association in 1919 when it was formed. The church remained part-time until 1943 when Rev. James Cox became the first full-time pastor. Twenty one pastors have faithfully served Nance's Grove.
