ORGANIZED 1869

The Pleasant Grove Baptist Church was organized June 19, 1869 with fifty charter members. The Rev. J.N.Brooks was elected as first pastor. The church joined the Nolachucky Baptist Association in 1870. On one acre of land, donated by Richard Fielden, the first frame building was erected and the cemetery plotted. This building burned 1876 and immediately rebuilt. In 1948 this building was replaced by a block building, which was used until the present brick veneered building was erected in 1964.
